The flowers are blooming, the days are getting longer, and everyone is itching to spend more time outside. Spring is finally in full-swing, and there’s no better way to celebrate than enjoying a refreshing, delicious drink. And this spring at Max and Slate, we’ve developed a taste for craft beers. These creative, unique brews will get you in the mood for the season, and your friends and family will thank you for bringing them to the next spring barbeque! Here are some of the best craft breweries we’ve found, as well as our favorite offerings from each one.
1. Three Taverns Brewery – Decatur, Georgia
The founder of Three Taverns Brewery was inspired by a life-changing trip to Europe in 1994. He was fascinated by the brewing process used by Belgian monks, and since then, he’s mastered the process of creating amazing craft beer. As an added bonus, we also love the unique artwork featured on all of their cans.
Our picks: Rapturous, their signature raspberry sour ale, is the perfect craft beer for spring. You’ll fall in love with the sour-yet-enticing taste of raspberry puree with every sip. Lord Grey is another great choice for the season. This one-of-a-kind beer is infused with Earl Grey Tea for a tasting experience that you’ll never forget!
2. Elysian Brewing Company – Seattle, Washington
The brew masters at Elysian Brewing Company pride themselves on being able to create authentic, classic beer—but they also enjoy coming up with innovative new recipes as well! They’ve brewed up over 350 new beers since opening in 1996, and there are plenty of excellent spring drinks to choose from.
Our Picks: Split Shot is a limited release that will give you an extra kick this spring. It’s described as an “Espresso Milk Stout,” and you’ll have a hard time finding a beer that will wake you up more than this one! If you’re looking for something a little less intense, try out their Dayglow IPA. This dreamy, bright beer features pineapple and tropical fruit flavors that make it perfect for sunny April days.
3. Lakefront Brewery – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Lakefront Brewery has a lot of impressive accomplishments under their belt, including the creation of the first-ever certified organic beer. They also created the first gluten-free beer to be approved by the U.S. government. With credentials like this, it’s no wonder they have some of the best spring beers in the country to choose from!
Our Picks: Eazy Teazy is low-calorie beer with a light, citrusy flavor. It’s infused with delicious green and oolong teas for a unique tasting experience. Organika, the aforementioned organic beer that made them famous to begin with, is also an awesome choice for spring. It contains notes of organic coriander and orange peel, and with Organika, you’ll never have to worry about ill-effects from pesticides or chemicals.
